Since joining the YMIC community in 2018, I’ve taken on innumerable opportunities and possibilities that span from musical development to leadership and collaborative projects. Though it seems like it has already been forever since my first year, the experiences never got old. Year after year, I watched the organization grow, and myself along with it; I watched as the older students I revered graduate, continuing their love for music and community even beyond the YMIC name, and now I’m soon to be in those shoes as a graduating senior myself. As the Benefit Concert President this year, I’ve gotten more hands-on with the behind-the-scenes work and have subsequently been able to contribute to all the effort and dedication that makes our operations come together, more than ever before. It is truly an inspiration to be a part of such a network of like-minded peers and passionate mentors, driven to harness their talents to service others in a movement that brings us, and those we serve, closer together. I’ve taken away far more from my years with YMIC than I can thoroughly articulate, and will always be proud to call it a defining influence to who I am today.
